Uncertainty Looms Over Danish DP World Tour Tournament from 2027

Berlingske reports on the uncertain future of Denmark's DP World Tour golf tournament beyond 2027. While the tournament has been a fixture since 2014, with Great Northern set to host this August, Flemming Astrup, co-owner of GolfPromote, admits the outlook is unclear. Astrup cited the significant shifts occurring in the global golf landscape, particularly the impact of LIV Golf, as reasons for the uncertainty, stating these matters are beyond his control. To navigate these changes and secure the event's future, GolfPromote has welcomed four new co-owners. These include prominent Danish golfers Nicolai and Rasmus Højgaard, who are establishing successful careers on the PGA and DP World Tours, alongside business leaders Brian Nielsen of DTD Group and Jens Lange of Trust Forsikring. Astrup will retain a 40% stake, with the remaining 60% distributed among the new partners. This restructuring aims to leverage the diverse expertise of the new stakeholders, including Nielsen's experience with large events. The Ecco Tour, a vital stepping stone for many young Danish talents including the Højgaard twins, remains a cornerstone for GolfPromote, ensuring a strong pipeline for Danish golf.
