Undameo tenure chief shot dead in Michoacán; armed attack leaves one injured, two dead

Arturo Herrera Guzmán, the head of the Santiago Undameo tenure in Morelia, Michoacán, was fatally shot in an attack that also killed another individual. The incident took place at the "Futbol Park La Maiza FC" sports complex in the rural area of the state capital.

Reports indicate that following a soccer match, players were socializing near the field when armed assailants arrived and began shooting. One player died at the scene, while two others, including Herrera Guzmán, sustained injuries. Herrera Guzmán was rushed to a clinic in the nearby municipality of Huiramba but succumbed to his wounds en route.

The second injured individual received immediate medical attention from paramedics and was transported to a hospital in Morelia. His condition is reported as serious.

This violent incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in parts of Michoacán. The attack occurred in a public space, highlighting the vulnerability of communities to armed violence.
