Undefeated in the Fall: LG Wins Four Straight as Park Si-won Earns First Start Victory

LG’s fall baseball run remains unbeaten. The team held onto a razor-thin 1-0 lead over Doosan in Seoul, relying on reliever Son Ju-young’s determination to pitch for the third straight game and secure a fourth consecutive victory.

The win marked a personal milestone for Park Si-won. Making his start against Doosan, Park had not recorded a starting-pitcher victory before the game, but he delivered five innings of two-hit, scoreless baseball to claim his first win.

Doosan had turned to Kwak Bin as its strongest card to avoid being swept by LG. Kwak entered the game with the league’s best ERA and took the mound after only four days of rest, one day less than usual. He still produced seven innings with one run allowed, lowering his ERA from 2.36 to 2.31.

That lone run came in the fourth inning. With one out and the bases empty, LG foreign hitter Austin pulled a 157-kilometer-per-hour fastball from Kwak over the center-field wall for his 36th home run of the season. It became the decisive hit, leaving Kwak with the loss despite his strong outing.
