Unemployed Man Arrested for Repeatedly Stealing Condoms from Taipei Sex Shop

An unemployed man in Taipei has been arrested for repeatedly stealing condoms from an automated sex shop. The 34-year-old, identified by the surname Cai, initially targeted a store on Kangding Road.

According to police, Cai, who previously worked in cleaning, became despondent after losing his job. During a late-night visit in mid-June, he entered the unmanned store, became curious, and then damaged the vending machine to steal a set of condoms valued at NT$230.

Following the theft, the store owner reinforced security measures, anticipating a potential return of the culprit. However, about a month later, Cai attempted to steal again using the same method. This time, his efforts were thwarted by the upgraded security, and he failed to obtain any items.

Upon discovering the attempted second theft by the same individual, the owner reported the incidents to the police. Investigators reviewed surveillance footage and traced Cai's movements, despite him traveling on foot. They eventually identified him and located his residence, leading to his arrest. He has been charged with fraud.
