Unemployment insurance contribution could fall, but not next year, Töötukassa proposes

Estonia’s Unemployment Insurance Fund council has proposed leaving the unemployment insurance contribution unchanged in 2027 and cutting it from 2028.

The rate would remain 2.4% next year, with employees paying 1.6% and employers paying 0.8%.

Under the proposal, the rate would fall to 2.1% a year from 2028 through 2030. Employees would pay 1.4% and employers 0.7%. The council cited a strong labour-market forecast in making its recommendation to the government.
