Uni-President shutters two fitness chains, offers member transfers

Uni-President Group's two major fitness brands, "BEING sport" and "BEING fit," are abruptly ceasing operations on September 3, marking the conglomerate's exit from the fitness market. The decision, announced via a member notification letter from Uni-President Jia Jia Co., Ltd., which managed the fitness clubs and spa services, signals a strategic shift to concentrate resources on the spa and beauty sector.

Members affected by the closures have been offered options for refunds or transfers to the well-known fitness chain "Fitness Factory." From now until September 2, dedicated staff will be available daily to assist members with processing refunds or facilitating transfers. Those who opt to transfer to a year-long membership at Fitness Factory will receive benefits such as waived initiation and processing fees, plus an additional three months of membership. Unused personal training sessions can also be fully transferred.

The abrupt closure has left members scrambling to manage their fitness plans. Uni-President Jia Jia's decision to withdraw from the fitness industry is part of a broader operational adjustment, with the company's future focus squarely on its established spa and beauty operations.
