'Unique weapons, electronic warfare': Katz presents winners of Israel's 2026 Security Award

Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz has announced the recipients of the 2026 Security Prize, celebrating significant advancements in the nation's military and intelligence technology. The awards recognize systems and developments that have proven critical in recent conflicts and bolstered Israel's defense capabilities.

Among the honorees is a weapons system described as "key during the last campaign against Iran," developed and manufactured entirely in Israel. The Mossad, in collaboration with Israel Aerospace Industries and the air force, will also receive recognition for a classified system that enhanced the agency's operational and intelligence reach. These projects underscore Israel's commitment to maintaining a technological edge in a volatile region.

Further accolades go to the Ofek satellite array, including Ofek 13 and 19, for providing crucial intelligence during recent conflicts. A groundbreaking development by Unit 81, offering solutions to complex operational challenges, is also recognized. Additionally, an electronic warfare system that was instrumental in maintaining Israel's air superiority in recent campaigns has been awarded.

The prize ceremony, set to take place at the President's Office, will be attended by President Isaac Herzog, IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir, and other high-ranking officials. Minister Katz stated, "The past year has proven to the entire world the tremendous strength of the State of Israel, of the defense establishment and of the Israeli defense industries." He added that these capabilities have given Israel "unprecedented operational, intelligence and technological superiority."
