Universidad Rosario Castellanos to Open New Campus in Sinaloa by February 2027

Sinaloa, Mexico – A new campus for the Universidad Rosario Castellanos is set to open in Sinaloa, with construction slated for completion in February 2027. This expansion aims to provide greater educational access to the region's youth and enhance the university's presence. Alma Herrera Márquez, rector of the Universidad Rosario Castellanos, formally presented the project to interim governor Yeraldine Bonilla Valverde. She stated that the new facility responds to a long-standing demand for social justice through education. The university anticipates commencing activities in March 2027, following the campus's completion. Governor Bonilla Valverde emphasized the need for more study opportunities in Sinaloa, acknowledging that the educational landscape is evolving and requires updated programs. She instructed the Secretary of Public Education and Culture, Gloria Imelda Félix, to support the university's director. This support includes a door-to-door campaign to inform and invite young people to enroll in the new, tuition-free institution. The Universidad Rosario Castellanos already serves over one hundred thousand students. The addition of the Sinaloa campus is expected to further broaden its reach and impact, offering more pathways for higher education in the state.
