University of Chile rector reveals family is victim in 'Caso Sartor' financial scandal

Alejandra Mizala, the newly elected rector of the University of Chile, has disclosed that her own family is entangled in the "Caso Sartor" financial scandal. This revelation comes as she assumes leadership of one of Chile's most prestigious universities.

Mizala explained in an interview that her husband invested personal savings in Sartor Administradora General de Fondos (AGF) back in 2019. The funds, according to the ongoing investigation, were allegedly later used by Michael Clark, former president of Azul Azul (the company managing the university's football club), to acquire shares in the club. This acquisition reportedly occurred without the consent of the original investors.

"I think it was a little before the pandemic, in 2019. He hasn't told me how he came across it, maybe someone recommended it to him," Mizala stated when asked about her husband's investment decision. The rector emphasized that these were important savings, highlighting the personal impact of the alleged financial irregularities.
