University of Geneva must become the global university of responsibility

The University of Geneva's recent drop to 168th in the Quacquarelli Symonds rankings sends a clear message: the institution has not yet fully translated its exceptional strengths into global academic influence. This decline, however, does not signify a lack of quality but rather an urgent need for the university to more forcefully assert its unique mission.

In his book, "Universities, Professors and Students in the Intelligent Age," Klaus Schwab advocates for a profound reinvention of universities. He argues they must evolve beyond simply transmitting knowledge organized by disciplines. Instead, they should transform into vibrant platforms for knowledge creation, ongoing education, ethical responsibility, and leadership development.
