Unstoppable Arokodare scores first Eredivisie goal

Tolu Arokodare opened his Eredivisie account for Ajax in a 4-0 win over Telstar, continuing a prolific start since joining the Dutch club.

The Nigeria international came off the bench as Ajax pulled away in the second half. Davy Klaassen scored in the 37th minute, Steven Berghuis doubled the lead 11 minutes after halftime, and Arokodare made it 3-0 in the 60th minute after a move involving Berghuis. Marcos Leonardo completed the scoring in the 78th minute.

The goal marked Arokodare’s fourth in six appearances for Ajax. He has also supplied two assists during that spell.

In England, Nigeria internationals Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey played the full match as Fulham lost 1-0 to Sunderland. Wilson Isidor scored in the 75th minute, giving Sunderland their first Premier League win of the season. Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa criticised his team’s attitude, commitment and desire after the defeat.

Chuba Akpom scored his first Premier League goal for Ipswich Town in a 5-2 loss to Manchester United. The forward came on at halftime and scored late, 12 years after his Premier League debut for Arsenal. Bruno Fernandes scored a hat-trick for United after Leif Davis had put Ipswich ahead.

In France, Moses Simon played 63 minutes in Paris FC’s 3-0 win over Nice, Liam Rosenior’s first Ligue 1 victory since taking charge in the summer. Tochukwu Nnadi came on at halftime for Marseille against Monaco but later left with an injury as Marseille lost 2-0.

Umar Sadiq scored his first goal of the season for Valencia, reducing the deficit after a defensive mistake in a 3-1 defeat to Deportivo La Coruña.
