Untouchable Pogacar clinches fifth Tour de France victory

Tadej Pogacar has officially claimed his fifth Tour de France title, solidifying his dominance in the 113th edition of the prestigious cycling race.

The 27-year-old Slovenian, riding for the UAE Team, concluded the three-week event with a commanding lead of 6 minutes and 26 seconds over Belgian Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel. Pogacar's victory was effectively sealed before the final stage on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, as the time for the general classification was frozen 48 kilometers from the finish line.

This fifth triumph places Pogacar in elite company, alongside legends such as Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Merckx, Bernard Hinault, and Miguel Indurain, all of whom have also won the Tour de France five times. Only Lance Armstrong, who was later disqualified for doping, has achieved more wins with seven titles.

Despite his remarkable achievements, cycling icon Eddy Merckx suggested that Pogacar's ambition will not be quenched by these five victories. Merckx believes the current champion will continue to push for more success in the sport.
