Uruguay Delegation to Return Home on Commercial Flights After World Cup Exit

Members of Uruguay’s delegation will begin returning to their destinations on commercial flights from Sunday after the Celeste’s elimination from the World Cup. The remaining official delegation members are expected to arrive in different groups on Monday.

The Uruguayan Football Association said in a statement that it never considered arranging a charter flight home. It said the delegation’s return point had not been known, while many members would travel directly to the countries where they live abroad before rejoining their clubs.

The outcome left Uruguay repeating its group-stage exits from Qatar 2022 and South Korea-Japan 2002.
