Uruguayan player presented at Cruzeiro with girlfriend, her gesture goes viral

Uruguayan footballer Luciano “Lucho” Rodríguez was officially introduced as a new player for Brazilian club Cruzeiro, joining on loan from Saudi Arabian club Neom SC. The 23-year-old forward's presentation took an unexpected turn when a gesture by his girlfriend, influencer Antonela Ciavaglia, during a photo opportunity went viral.

As photographers gathered for an official picture in the Mineirão stadium's press room, Rodríguez invited Ciavaglia to join him. After posing for initial shots, Rodríguez leaned in to kiss his girlfriend. However, Ciavaglia, seemingly not anticipating the kiss and perhaps feeling flustered, turned away abruptly, leaving the stadium stage. The awkward moment was captured on camera, with Rodríguez appearing visibly embarrassed.

Following the widespread circulation of the video clip, Ciavaglia addressed the incident on her Instagram account. She explained that she was very nervous and felt overwhelmed by the situation. "The moment got the better of me, and I preferred to give him his space. There was no snub or anything like what they are trying to make it seem," she stated, adding that the "only bad intention is yours, taking a moment completely out of context to get views and likes."

Despite the viral anecdote, Rodríguez expressed his enthusiasm for returning to Brazilian football, where he previously played for Esporte Clube Bahia. "I said I wanted to leave at the end of the season to return to Brazilian football, which I know well, which is the best football in America and one of the best in the world," he told reporters. He aims to prove his capabilities with Cruzeiro, expressing optimism about the club's potential and his own performance.
