US Ambassador to Romania: 'Peace Through Strength' on NATO's Eastern Flank

U.S. Ambassador to Romania Darryl Nirenberg marked U.S. Independence Day with a message emphasizing the robust strategic partnership between Washington and Bucharest. He evoked the symbolic moment of 1776 when patriots signed the Declaration of Independence, laying the groundwork for what President Trump called "the greatest political journey in human history."

Nirenberg announced that the U.S. Embassy in Bucharest is officially launching an extensive campaign to celebrate democratic values locally, titled "Freedom 250." This initiative is part of a global effort to honor founding ideals of liberty, democracy, and independence. He stressed the deep cultural and value-based connections uniting Romanian and American societies, noting that both nations are anchored in "the fundamental values of Western civilization, faith, family, and hard work, precisely the principles promoted by America's founders."

The ambassador highlighted that the bilateral strategic partnership rests on a shared commitment to regional security, economic growth, and democratic resilience. He issued a call to action for Romania's young innovators, entrepreneurs, and technology specialists, asserting that the next chapter of the alliance belongs to them. "'Freedom 250' is an invitation to build, to leverage our common freedom to pave the way for new technologies, revolutionize industries, and create new solutions together," his message concluded. He also referenced the philosophical substance of the American endeavor in 1776, recalling President Trump's view that the founders "ignited not only a revolution in governance but a revolution in the pursuit of justice, equality, freedom, and prosperity."
