US and Iran escalate conflict with reciprocal attacks; Trump warns of further strikes

The United States and Iran have escalated their military confrontation, with both nations reporting significant attacks. The U.S. military announced it had struck around 90 military targets along Iran's coast, including air defense systems, coastal surveillance facilities, and missile and drone storage sites, during a second consecutive night of operations.

In response, Iran's Revolutionary Guards, the country's elite military force, claimed to have attacked U.S. bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, both allied nations. U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stern warning on the platform Truth Social, threatening even more severe attacks if such actions were repeated. He stated that the U.S. strikes were retaliation for Iran's attacks on ships.

Iranian media, citing the Revolutionary Guards, reported that if the U.S. military continued its aggression, Iran would expand its "devastating responses" to other U.S. bases in the region. Meanwhile, the U.S. military's Central Command confirmed the completion of the latest wave of attacks. Iranian negotiator Mohammed Bagher Ghalibaf posted on X, asserting that intimidation and broken promises would no longer go unanswered, and directly warned, "If you strike, you will be struck."

Iranian media reported explosions in several coastal areas, including near Bandar Abbas, Bushehr, and Abu Musa island in the Persian Gulf. State news agency Irna reported damage to buildings at Iranshahr airport and a railway bridge in Golestan province. Press TV noted this was the first U.S. attack in the region since a ceasefire in April. Kuwait's military reported repelling missile and drone attacks for the second night, while alarms also sounded in Bahrain, both countries hosting U.S. military bases relatively close to Iran.
