US and Russia hold Kremlin talks on proposals to resolve the Ukraine conflict

The Kremlin meeting between Vladimir Putin and US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner lasted three hours and 10 minutes, according to Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov.

Ushakov described the discussion as “substantive, constructive, extremely frank and trusting.” He said the talks covered highly serious issues both at the working table and later in an informal setting over dinner.

Witkoff and Kushner arrived in Moscow on September 5 under instructions from US President Donald Trump. Their mandate was to continue dialogue on resolving the crisis in Ukraine and address other pressing issues.

Ushakov said this was the eighth visit by the US representatives to Russia. Putin received the pair and, at the start of the meeting, publicly praised the intermediary channel of negotiations.
