US Black Hawk helicopters arrive in Panama for jungle survival training

Three U.S. Black Hawk helicopters have landed in Panama as part of a bilateral cooperation initiative. The aircraft, including two HH-60 models and one UH-60, are set to participate in jungle survival training. This exercise will take place at the Almirante Cristóbal Colón Naval Air Base.

The arrival of these helicopters continues the agreements for cooperation between the two nations.

Panamanian security personnel from the National Aeronaval Service (Senan), National Police, and National Border Service (Senafront) will train alongside U.S. Marines. This collaboration aims to enhance the operational capabilities of Panama's security forces, with a primary objective of protecting the Panama Canal and national interests.

Panamax 2026 seeks to strengthen regional coordination against risks that could affect maritime security and operations related to the Panama Canal.

The helicopters' presence in Panama is scheduled to last until August. During this period, they will also support the annual Panamax 2026 multinational exercise. This exercise focuses on strengthening regional coordination to address threats to maritime security and operations related to the Panama Canal. Senan emphasized that all activities will respect national sovereignty.
