US Embassy in Buenos Aires Declares Bomb Threat False After Operation

The U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires reported a bomb threat on Wednesday afternoon, which was ultimately dismissed after a thorough investigation. The swift response from the Argentine Federal Police and the Buenos Aires City Police allowed for the situation to be resolved safely, with all personnel accounted for and unharmed.

Police and bomb squads cordoned off the area surrounding the embassy, located on Avenida Colombia in Palermo. The threat, reportedly made by phone, indicated a bomb was placed outside the building. The embassy, a frequent destination for visa applicants, was evacuated as a precautionary measure.

This is not the first time the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires has faced such threats. In 2023, two similar incidents occurred: one involving a suspicious package that was later deemed harmless, and another received via email shortly after a similar threat was made against the Israeli embassy.
