US, Iran escalate attacks on infrastructure, raising regional tensions

The United States and Iran are escalating their confrontation, with each side targeting the other's infrastructure and bases, diminishing hopes for a diplomatic resolution. Iranian state media reported that US forces struck an airport, a railway station, and two bridges, resulting in at least eight deaths and 20 injuries.

Tehran also accused the US of raids on electrical infrastructure in the country's south, prompting calls for reduced electricity consumption amid extreme heat. In retaliation, Iran claimed to have hit US bases, aircraft, and radar systems in Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Jordan, and Oman. The Revolutionary Guards warned they would continue attacks until calm is restored along the southern coast and in the Strait of Hormuz.

Reports of US airstrikes on Iranian bridges, the Iranshahr airport, a railway hub, and a telecommunications tower suggest an expansion of the military campaign threatened by President Donald Trump. Iran's promised retaliation has intensified across the region. Kuwait reported damage to a power and water desalination plant from an Iranian attack, with soldiers injured by debris. Qatar stated that the Revolutionary Guards targeted US radar systems and military aircraft at Al-Udeid Air Base, with missiles intercepted and a child injured.

Iranian forces also claimed to have attacked two US radar sites in Oman and the Al-Tanf base in Syria, though a Syrian military source denied the latter. Iran further claimed to have struck US military aircraft in Jordan and, according to Iranian regime media, conducted raids against US helicopters and aircraft at an airbase in Bahrain. This exchange marks the most intense since hostilities resumed following the collapse of a ceasefire, with the Iranian Health Ministry reporting at least 38 deaths and over 400 injuries.
