US, Iran finalize peace deal; Strait of Hormuz to reopen, Pakistan says

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced on Monday that the United States and Iran have finalized a peace deal to end their war. Sharif stated that both sides have agreed to an immediate and permanent cessation of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.

Moments after Sharif's announcement, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the agreement on his Truth Social platform. "The Deal with the Islamic Republic of Iran is now complete," Trump wrote, adding, "Congratulations to all! I hereby fully authorize the toll free opening of the Strait of Hormuz, and, simultaneously herewith, authorize the immediate removal of the United States Naval blockade." He urged global shipping, "Ships of the World, start your engines. Let the oil flow!"

Both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.

The official signing ceremony for the peace deal is slated to take place in Switzerland on June 19. While the precise terms are still emerging, reports suggest the agreement will lead to the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the end of the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports. The conflict between Israel and Iran-aligned Hezbollah in Lebanon was reignited by the start of the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran in February.
