Usame Zukorlić wins another four-year term leading the Party of Justice and Reconciliation

Usame Zukorlić has secured another four-year mandate as leader of the Party of Justice and Reconciliation, or SPP.

Speaking at the party’s electoral congress, Zukorlić said the SPP remained committed to uniting Bosniaks. He called on the Sandžak Democratic Action Party and the Sandžak Democratic Party to take part in creating a Forum of Political Representatives of Sandžak.

Even if that is not possible, it is important to reach agreement among the invited parties that the campaign should be peaceful, correct and fair.

The call followed an appeal from the Sandžak Democratic Action Party and the Bosniak National Council for the three relevant Bosniak parties to form a single list for the upcoming parliamentary elections. SPP representatives took part in talks but said they could respond to the proposal only after the party congress.

Sandžak Democratic Party leader Samir Lekić had welcomed the initiative several days earlier. He said that even if a unified list proved impossible, the parties should agree on a calm, fair and honest campaign. Such agreement, he said, would also affect whether they could discuss forming a joint parliamentary group after the election.
