Uzbekistan Formalizes Presidential Administration with New Law

Uzbekistan's Presidential Administration has been formally established with the signing of a constitutional law by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on August 14. The legislation, passed by the Legislative Chamber on August 6 and approved by the Senate on August 7, officially took effect upon its publication.

The law designates the Presidential Administration as a state body directly reporting to and accountable to the president. Its primary function is to support the head of state in ensuring the coordinated activities and interaction of various government bodies. The administration will also oversee the implementation of presidential powers in organizational, legal, and analytical capacities.

Key tasks outlined for the administration include providing comprehensive support for the president's activities. This encompasses analyzing the nation's socio-economic and socio-political development, aiding in the implementation of reforms, and developing new policy initiatives. It will also play a crucial role in maintaining law and order, safeguarding citizens' rights and freedoms, and reforming the judicial system.

Furthermore, the administration is tasked with coordinating the efforts of law enforcement, security agencies, and other government bodies subordinate to the president. It will also develop proposals on domestic and foreign policy, protect Uzbekistan's sovereignty, and ensure its territorial integrity. A significant focus will be placed on fostering open dialogue with the public and entrepreneurs, improving living standards, and facilitating citizens' right to address the president. The administration will also work to strengthen the role of representative government bodies and civil society institutions in building a democratic state and promoting national harmony.
