Valjevo Gymnasium Appeals for Responsible Public Discourse and Dignity

Valjevo Gymnasium has released a statement addressing recent public discussions surrounding a former student's public conduct, private life, and academic record. The educational institution stressed its commitment to responsible public discourse and the protection of individual dignity.

The school's statement highlighted that directing public attention toward an individual and disseminating information about them is inconsistent with the values of a responsible public sphere. Such approaches, the gymnasium argued, do not contribute to developing a culture of dialogue, mutual respect, and responsible public engagement.

Valjevo Gymnasium appealed to all public figures to demonstrate greater responsibility and respect in their public appearances, honoring all involved parties. The institution reiterated its dedication to its educational and formative role, founded on respecting the dignity of every individual.

The statement did not specify findings from the school's internal commission, which was tasked with investigating how the grades of former student and student parliament president Vuk Vasiljević reached V5 television. A V5 host had publicly read Vasiljević's grades and made other inappropriate remarks about him.
