Valverde named Real Madrid's first captain

Federico Valverde embraced his new role as Real Madrid's first captain, expressing deep emotion and honor. Following the departure of Daniel Carvajal, Valverde stepped into the leadership position and participated in the team's first preseason training session on July 22.

"I feel a lot of emotion and honor," Valverde told Realmadrid TV. He stated that he learned from the club's previous captains since becoming a first-team player in 2018. "I will use all that experience to grow with the coaching staff," he added.

Valverde reflected on his influences, mentioning teammates like Dani Carvajal, Sergio Ramos, Toni Kroos, Luka Modrić, and Lucas Vázquez. He aims to help fans "enjoy a year full of titles and be proud" of the team, especially under the new management of Jose Mourinho, who returned to the club after 13 years.

Since joining Real Madrid in 2018, Valverde has won fourteen titles, playing 342 matches, scoring 41 goals, and providing 44 assists. He hopes to break the club's nearly two-year trophy drought and is eager to learn from Mourinho's guidance.
