Vancouver police release video of violent robbery of 75-year-old man

Vancouver police have released video of a violent robbery that left a 75-year-old man injured, in hopes that the public can help identify the perpetrators. The attack occurred Tuesday morning near East Hastings Street and Jackson Avenue in the Downtown Eastside neighborhood.

The victim, who resides in the area, was out for a walk when he was assaulted and robbed by a group of suspects around 9:15 a.m. According to police, one suspect repeatedly pushed the elderly man to the ground, punched him multiple times in the face, and stole his personal belongings.

We are asking anyone who witnessed the robbery or has information that could assist investigators to come forward.

Despite being injured, the victim attempted to follow the suspects to recover his property. During this confrontation, he was slammed into a wall twice before the group fled the scene. Several witnesses and bystanders called the police to report the incident.

The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for a head injury, bruises, and abrasions. He has since been released from the hospital. The Vancouver Police Department's major crime section is urging anyone with information to come forward by calling 604-717-2541.
