Vassell Reynolds takes charge at St Catherine High

Vassell Reynolds, a celebrated figure in Jamaican schoolboy football, is embarking on a new chapter as the technical director of St Catherine High School. Reynolds arrives with an impressive resume, having recently guided Kingston College to the Manning Cup title in 2024. His coaching prowess also includes a daCosta Cup win with Ruseas High in 2017, a Walker Cup with Wolmer’s Boys in 2015, and the Flow Super Cup in 2016.

Reynolds takes the reins at St Catherine High, a program he recently defeated in the 2024 Manning Cup final. He acknowledged the strong foundation laid by his predecessor, Anthony Patrick, and intends to leverage his experience to elevate the team.

St Catherine High has been one of the most consistent performers over the past five to six years at the Manning Cup level under the leadership of coach Anthony Patrick and his support staff. I’m aware of the work and structure Patrick implemented, and I’ll use my experience to build on that and take the programme to the next level.

"My role as a technical director will be to direct the overall football programme, which is at a rebuilding stage," Reynolds explained. "There will be a great emphasis on building a solid youth system, which will give us the kind of foundation to perform well at all levels and to aid with the transition from one age group to the other." He plans to instill the right mindset, skill sets, and work ethic in the players to foster high-level performances.

Reynolds' immediate goal is to add more success to St Catherine High, with the ultimate prize being the elusive Manning Cup title. His departure from Kingston College followed a successful three-year tenure where he secured both the Manning Cup and the all-island Olivier Shield in 2024. Reflecting on his time at KC, Reynolds described it as gratifying, noting that he left the program in a significantly improved state and built his own legacy there.
