Venezuela delivers 87 homes to earthquake-affected families

Venezuelan interim president Delcy Rodríguez handed over 87 new homes to families displaced by earthquakes that struck on June 24. The handover ceremony took place in the Simón Rodríguez urban development within Fuerte Tiuna, Caracas.

Rodríguez, accompanied by several government ministers, toured the residential complex. Beneficiary families, some relocated from La Guaira state, expressed gratitude for the swift provision of housing equipped with basic amenities. The government reaffirmed its commitment to uninterrupted housing support for those still in temporary shelters following the seismic emergency.

"To the people in temporary camps, know that you will have your homes and will leave for a home," Rodríguez stated. "Our greatest objective as a team is to bring happiness to those terribly affected by the double earthquake. Let them know they are not alone; the solidarity of a national, local, and regional government is working so everyone has housing."

The national reconstruction plan aims to deliver 4,000 homes by the end of the year. Additionally, a new law regulating rental conditions for housing was recently approved by the National Assembly, which Rodríguez believes will equitably manage relations between property owners and tenants, thereby increasing the availability of rental properties.
