Venezuela Restores 100% International Internet Connectivity After Subsea Cable Repair

Venezuela's international internet connectivity has been completely restored, marking a significant recovery after the successful repair of a crucial subsea fiber optic cable. The National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel) announced the full restitution of the country's global connection capabilities.

The specialized vessel Wave Sentinel, working on behalf of Cirion Technologies, concluded the complex repair maneuvers. Following link tests and end-to-end verification, the fiber optic system has returned to its original performance standards. This ensures robust data transfer security and the necessary international traffic capacity for national telecommunications.

Conatel emphasized that the swift resolution of this outage was a testament to the effective logistical coordination between Venezuela's public sector and private companies. This collaboration expedited customs and operational permits for the vessel, enabling the completion of a technically demanding procedure in just 14 days, a process that typically takes around 45 days.

The repaired cable is part of a larger regional network spanning over 105,000 kilometers of fiber optic infrastructure. Conatel reaffirmed its commitment to overseeing critical national infrastructure to guarantee service stability across key sectors.
