Venezuela's SAIME offers one-day passport processing at central office

The Venezuelan Service of Identification, Migration and Foreigners (SAIME) announced a new special procedure for processing and delivering passports within a single day. This expedited service is exclusively available at the central office located in El Silencio, Caracas. SAIME detailed on Instagram that this initiative aims to streamline the passport issuance process.

Venezuelan citizens can apply for and obtain their passports during office hours, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The requirements differ based on the applicant's age. Adults must present their laminated and valid identity card. Minors need to submit a simple copy of their birth certificate, their identity card if they have one, and be accompanied by a legal representative.

Furthermore, SAIME recently enabled the option for third parties to collect passports. This allows authorized family members to pick up documents when the passport holder cannot attend the office in person. This measure seeks to facilitate access to the service and overcome mobility limitations for users. Initially, this plan was implemented at the Simón Bolívar office in Caracas. Documents are released to third parties only if a verifiable family relationship exists, including parents, children, grandparents, spouses, and adult children.

SAIME also recently updated its passport processing fees, which are now indexed to the official exchange rate published by the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV). The new fees are $108 for children aged 0-2, $162 for those aged 3-17, and $216 for individuals 18 and older.
