Venezuelan Baseball League Reschedules Convention After Earthquakes

The Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) has announced a new date for its Annual Convention, rescheduling the event following a mandatory pause caused by the devastating earthquakes on June 24.

The convention is now set to occur from September 4 to 6 on Margarita Island. It was originally planned for July 3 to 5 but was postponed due to the tragedy, which has claimed over 5,000 lives to date. The LVBP issued a statement on social media reaffirming its "unwavering commitment to the development of baseball in the country and to the preparation of a first-class sporting spectacle during the 2026-2027 season."

Key topics for the upcoming convention include the start date of the season, which will be determined by the number of games to be played. Before the natural disaster, LVBP president Giuseppe Palmisano had indicated in an interview that the tournament was slated to begin between October 12 and 15. The league is also discussing Venezuelan teams playing internationally. Palmisano announced plans for two exhibition games in Miami in November between the Tiburones de La Guaira and Navegantes Magallanes, organized by the Marlins.
