Venezuelan dialogue begins to restore democratic institutions

Dinorah Figuera, president of Venezuela's 2015 elected National Assembly, declared the formal launch of a political dialogue process aimed at restoring democratic institutions. She stated that this meeting marks the beginning of a new phase for the country's institutional and political recovery.

Figuera announced the start of the process via her social media account X, emphasizing that the discussions between deputies of the 2015 National Assembly and representatives of the interim government will set a course toward democracy and reinstitutionalization. "We are working firmly for freedom and democracy for Venezuelans," she added.

Today we installed the process that will mark the route towards Democracy and the reinstitutionalization of Venezuela between deputies of the National Assembly 2015 and representatives of the interim government.

The dialogue, held at the Simón Bolívar Convention Center, is part of a political process announced last week and supported by the United States. The agenda includes discussions on reinstitutionalizing the Supreme Court of Justice and the National Electoral Council, ensuring political and civil rights, and addressing the consequences of the June 24 earthquake.

Figuera had previously indicated that working groups would convene over the coming months, with initial results expected by December. The initiative seeks to advance the recovery of democratic institutions and guarantee citizens' rights.
