Venezuelan Think Tank Director to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award in New York

Rocío Guijarro, the executive director of the Venezuelan free-market think tank Cedice Libertad, will be honored with the 2026 Sir Antony Fisher Award for Lifetime Achievement by Atlas Network. The award ceremony will take place during the Liberty Forum & Freedom Dinner in New York City on November 12.

The Sir Antony Fisher Achievement Award is presented annually by Atlas Network to recognize individuals who have dedicated their careers to the cause of freedom. Recipients include think tank leaders, philanthropists, academics, and advocates whose work has significantly advanced the global movement for democracy.

Atlas Network highlighted that this year's award celebrates "the most enduring voice for individual liberty, property rights, and free markets in Venezuela." For over three decades, Guijarro has led CEDICE Libertad, navigating one of Venezuela's most challenging historical periods. She has championed individual liberty, property rights, and free markets even as many independent institutions in the country disappeared, were intervened, or forced to operate from abroad.

Cedice Libertad was founded in 1984 by Venezuelan entrepreneurs who believed in individual liberty and free markets as foundations for national development and prosperity. Under Guijarro's leadership, she has been instrumental in building movements for freedom in Ibero-America, mentoring young leaders from Mexico to Argentina and Spain, and has been a trusted ally of Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado.
