Venstre’s Thomas Danielsen quits as parliamentary candidate

Thomas Danielsen is leaving the Holstebro constituency after local Venstre chairman Tom Bach Nielsen publicly criticised him over the fertiliser law.

Danielsen, a former transport minister, told TV Midtvest that the local party had made clear it was dissatisfied with him. Bach Nielsen called him “tone-deaf” after Danielsen voted for the law on Thursday.

“

Venstre in Holstebro has expressed through TV Midtvest that it is not satisfied with me.

“No one can benefit from having a parliamentary candidate when trust is clearly no longer present,” Danielsen said. He will therefore have to find a new constituency if he wants to appear on the ballot at the next parliamentary election.

The most recent parliamentary election took place in March this year, giving Danielsen time to seek another constituency.
