Vente Venezuela Launches 'Album of Shame' to Denounce Political Prisoner Situation

The human rights committee of Vente Venezuela has launched a campaign titled "The Album of Shame" to draw attention to the plight of political prisoners in Venezuela.

This initiative cleverly repurposes the popular format of World Cup sticker albums, using the 2026 World Cup as a backdrop. Instead of athletes, each "sticker" features a political prisoner, identified by name and accompanied by details about their case and detention conditions. These individuals are depicted wearing Venezuela's national soccer team jersey, the Vinotinto.

According to material shared on social media, the campaign aims to humanize the statistics and legal files associated with these detentions. It seeks to reveal the personal stories behind each case and underscore the profound impact these arrests have on the families involved. A central message of the initiative states: "While the world fills albums, the regime keeps Venezuelan prisons full of political prisoners."

The launch of "The Album of Shame" coincides with ongoing protests by relatives of political prisoners. For several days, these families have been gathered outside the U.S. Embassy in Caracas. They are requesting a meeting with the U.S. Chargé d'Affaires, John Barrett, and urging Washington to intervene in efforts to secure the release of those still incarcerated.
