Veracruz prosecutors investigate five Navy members and a state police officer for alleged irregularities

Veracruz state prosecutors are investigating six law enforcement officers for alleged misconduct. The probe involves five members of the Mexican Navy, who are currently performing public security duties, and one state police agent.

The investigation focuses on alleged irregularities in their professional conduct. Specifically, the officers are accused of improperly removing various objects on November 3, 2025. The Navy has affirmed its complete willingness to cooperate with the Veracruz Attorney General's Office and other relevant authorities.

In a press release, the Navy emphasized its commitment to upholding legality, ethics, discipline, and the values of naval service. The institution stated that any member found to have engaged in illicit activities will be held accountable by the competent authorities, regardless of administrative, disciplinary, or criminal responsibilities. The Navy also highlighted its ongoing institutional collaboration to clarify the facts, ensuring due process and the rights of all involved individuals are respected.

For over 15 years, Navy personnel have been jointly conducting security operations in the Veracruz-Boca del Río metropolitan area alongside state police.
