Verdict Date Set for Kosovo War Crimes Trial of Thaçi and Others

A trial panel at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers has scheduled the delivery of a first-instance verdict in the case against Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi, and Jakup Krasniqi. The date for the verdict has been set, marking a significant step in the proceedings against the former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders.

Thaçi, Veseli, Selimi, and Krasniqi face charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity. These allegations stem from their alleged involvement in a joint criminal enterprise aimed at seizing power in Kosovo by unlawful means, including through intimidation, harassment, and unlawful deprivation of liberty, as well as attacks on constitutional order.

The Kosovo Specialist Chambers, often referred to as the Specialist Prosecutor's Office and Specialist Chambers, were established to investigate and prosecute alleged crimes committed during and immediately after the Kosovo War. The court operates under Kosovo law but is staffed by international judges and prosecutors, and is based in The Hague, Netherlands.
