Veteran artist slams union chair, calls on former star for justice

Veteran Taiwanese artist Tien Lu-lu has publicly accused Tsao Yu-ting, the chairperson of the Performing Arts Union, of being unfit for her position. The dispute arose following public concern over Tien Lu-lu's solitary living situation in Taichung.

Tien Lu-lu directly addressed Tsao Yu-ting on social media, stating, "I am the first person to directly confront you live." She referenced a past incident from six years prior, questioning Tsao Yu-ting's past treatment of her. Tien Lu-lu also called on other veteran artists to speak out and specifically named former actor Chiang Hou-jen, urging him to step forward and mediate the situation.

Chiang Hou-jen, who founded the Performing Arts Union, expressed surprise at being named. He clarified that he had resigned from his position 20 years ago and is no longer involved with the union. While acknowledging he knows Tien Lu-lu casually, he suggested she might be mistaken. He emphasized that the union's core responsibility is to support veteran artists and assist them in applying for government subsidies if they face hardship.

Tien Lu-lu's strong public criticism and her appeal to Chiang Hou-jen have ignited a debate about the Performing Arts Union's role and effectiveness in caring for its senior members.
