Veteran Host Replaced by Phone Call After 24 Years; Former Co-Host Blasts Show's Treatment

The long-running Taiwanese numerology talk show "Destiny Is Fun" is undergoing a significant hosting change, with veteran hosts He Dulin and Chen Yalan reportedly stepping down due to budget constraints. He Dulin, considered the show's soul, has been a constant presence for 24 years, navigating through various co-hosts including Guo Jingchun and Chen Yalan. His departure, alongside Chen Yalan's, marks the end of an era for the program.

Guo Jingchun, who co-hosted with He Dulin for 15 years, voiced strong criticism regarding the manner of He Dulin's dismissal. Now living in Vancouver, Guo Jingchun shared her feelings during a recent Facebook live stream, expressing her anger and hurt. She revealed that He Dulin was informed of his termination not through a formal meeting or discussion, but via a single phone call after he had finished recording episodes before the Lunar New Year. "If you hire an employee for over 20 years, they can apply for a substantial retirement pension. After more than 20 years of contribution, there must be some credit for their hard work, right?" she argued, emphasizing the lack of basic human respect shown.

Guo Jingchun praised He Dulin as an "old good person" who doesn't dwell on issues and is currently enjoying his travels and live streams. However, she felt compelled to speak out, stating, "I am unhappy, my mood is unhappy! If I were him, I would be extremely unhappy." She believes He Dulin, her "big brother," and Chen Yalan deserved a farewell that acknowledged their long service and contributions. "Dulin deserves to be bid farewell in a respectful manner. I just feel unhappy, very unhappy! I am unwilling to see my good friend and my own big brother treated this way," she declared, highlighting the emotional distress caused by the abrupt dismissal.

Despite her disappointment with the production team's handling of the situation, Guo Jingchun extended her best wishes for the show's future. She noted that many long-term numerologists and staff members are also facing changes. "'Destiny Is Fun' has had its fun; now let others have a go," she remarked, acknowledging the show's transition while subtly criticizing the way established talent was treated.
