Veteran Taiwan Councilor Hands Over Seat to Son

Veteran Chiayi County Councilor Lee Kuo-sheng, who has served six consecutive terms, is handing over his legislative seat to his second son, Lee Chia-hao. The Kuomintang (KMT) has officially nominated Lee Chia-hao to represent the party in the fourth constituency of the Chiayi County Council, which covers Puzi City, Dongshi Township, and Liujiao Township.

The decision marks a significant political transition for the family, with Lee Kuo-sheng, who also served as the KMT caucus secretary-general, choosing to pass the baton to his son. While Lee Kuo-sheng was not initially listed in the central nomination list, the party explained that he had not applied for nomination as he was evaluating whether to pass on his seat. Following family discussions, the party decided to designate Lee Chia-hao as the candidate.

Among the nominated county council candidates are current councilors and one representative transitioning from township representation.
