VfB Stuttgart loans striker Jeremy Arévalo to Estrela Amadora

Jeremy Arévalo’s brief spell at VfB Stuttgart is over, at least for now. The 21-year-old Ecuador international is moving to Portuguese top-flight side Estrela Amadora on loan after failing to establish himself in Stuttgart’s crowded attack.

The club announced the move after its 4-1 victory over 1. FC Köln. Arévalo arrived in Stuttgart in January from Spanish second-division club Racing Santander, but made little impact and rarely featured.

“For Jeremy, the loan to Estrela Amadora is the right career step at this point, so that he can gain match practice and further experience in the Portuguese first division,” Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth said.

Arévalo’s contract with Stuttgart runs until summer 2031. The move forms part of the club’s continued effort to reduce its squad. Stuttgart had already sent attacking player Badredine Bouanani to Scottish club Glasgow Rangers on a season-long loan.
