Vice President Yılmaz emphasizes 'under the pillow' [savings]: 'I wish these would enter the system more'

Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz has underscored the critical need for Turkey to analyze and adapt to a period of significant global change, marked by rising geopolitical tensions and escalating trade wars. Speaking at an economic consultation meeting in Eskişehir, Yılmaz noted the concurrent acceleration of technological transformation, particularly in digitalization and artificial intelligence, alongside these broader global shifts.

Conversely, he warned that nations failing to do so would face severe consequences. He stressed that in such a risky times, acting with unity and preserving stability are more crucial than ever.

Yılmaz pointed out that global growth and world trade are currently below historical averages. He specifically mentioned the European Union, a key market for Turkey, has been experiencing sluggish growth rates of around 0-1%. In this context, he asserted the vital importance of Turkey implementing its own policies with greater strength and determination.

Therefore, when evaluating Turkey, both generally and locally, we need to analyze the conditions and trends in the world and our region very well. Along with these, we need to shape our own policies.

The Vice President also referenced the devastating earthquakes that struck 11 provinces in Kahramanmaraş, noting that the country is largely recovering from the immense cost, estimated at $105 billion. He mentioned that over 450,000 housing units have been constructed in the affected areas, indicating a significant step towards rebuilding and recovery.
