VIDEO: Police Declare Mushin Safe After Bomb Scare

The Lagos State Police Command has declared the Mushin area safe following a reported scare involving an improvised explosive device (IED). The alert triggered a swift security response in the early hours of Monday.

Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, visited Mushin to assess the situation firsthand after a distress call alleging an explosion was received. Operatives from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal-Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Unit were immediately dispatched to the scene. The area was cordoned off, and a comprehensive search and recovery operation was conducted.

Authorities confirmed that no explosive device was found, and the location was declared safe. The Command stated, "After cordoning off the area and conducting a thorough assessment, search, and recovery operation, the location was declared safe and free of any IED threat."

CP Fatai urged residents of Mushin and surrounding areas to remain calm and continue their daily activities, assuring them of sufficient security deployment to protect lives and property. This incident occurs amidst heightened sensitivity to explosive-related alerts in the area, recalling a past event in 2025 where a bomb explosion in Mushin was linked to a scavenger attempting to dismantle military-grade grenades, resulting in one fatality and three injuries.
