VIDEO: Residents scoop fuel after tanker spills contents on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

Dozens of residents were seen scrambling to collect fuel spilled from a tanker that overturned on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near the Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode Road. Videos from the scene captured men and women rushing to the location with various containers, including buckets and jerrycans, to gather the petroleum product.

The residents were observed scooping the spilt fuel from accumulation points, including drainage channels. This activity occurred despite the inherent risks of fire or explosion associated with handling volatile petroleum products. The scene attracted a significant number of people eager to collect the fuel.

Emergency responders, including officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps and personnel from the Federal and State Fire Services, were present at the scene. Their primary objective was to contain the situation, secure the area, and manage the risks posed by the spilt fuel, especially as more residents continued to gather around the site.
