Video shows car belonging to deputy county prosecutor reportedly destroyed by fire

A car was completely destroyed by fire early Saturday in Slavonski Brod, Croatia, and local reports said it reportedly belonged to the deputy county state attorney.

The vehicle was parked on Vukovarska Street. Police cordoned off the parking area, and an investigation was still under way. A witness told 24sata that there was no other information about the incident. The Brod-Posavina police department confirmed receiving a report of a burning passenger car during the night.

The city’s public fire service said it received the call at 1:59 a.m. on Sept. 5 in the Slavonija 1 neighborhood. Firefighters found the front cabin and the entire engine compartment of an Opel Crossland X on fire. They contained the blaze at 2:08 a.m. and extinguished it completely by 2:40 a.m.

Firefighters inspected the scene with a thermal imaging camera and cut the battery cables to prevent the vehicle from reigniting. They described the damage as extensive. The cause will be determined by the fire-protection inspector of the Brod-Posavina police department. No injuries were reported, and firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to other nearby vehicles.
