Videos and photos show Amazon cargo plane crash in Miami that killed at least five

A cargo plane operating for Amazon ran off the runway during landing at Miami International Airport, crossed the airport perimeter and struck several vehicles on a nearby road. At least five people died and several others were injured, authorities said.

Images and videos circulated on social media and local media showed the aircraft stopped beside a road near the terminal. The plane rested on one side and was surrounded by a dense column of black smoke visible from different parts of Miami. Authorities had not yet specified how many of those affected were on the plane and how many were on the ground.

The emergency response brought about 60 Miami-Dade Fire Rescue units to the scene. Northwest 67th Avenue remained closed between Northwest 25th Street and Northwest 36th Street while crews worked near the crash site. Airport operations faced interruptions and delays.

Preliminary reconstructions indicated that the aircraft went beyond the end of runway 30, broke through the airport’s perimeter fence and crossed Northwest 67th Avenue before catching fire and coming to rest in an adjacent field near Amazon’s DMI3 warehouse.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said ground operations at Miami International Airport had been completely suspended while responders worked at the scene. The airport later partially reopened at 6 p.m. local time. The Federal Aviation Administration identified the aircraft as a Boeing 767-300 that had arrived from San Juan, Puerto Rico. The incident occurred at about 2 p.m. local time and was under federal investigation.
