Videos: Terrorist Attacks in Colombia Leave 14 Dead, 38 Injured

Colombia is grappling with a wave of terror following a series of explosive attacks that have claimed numerous lives and injured many more. On Friday, the Valle del Cauca department was rocked by two separate bombings, one targeting the Pichincha Battalion in Cali and another aimed at military installations in the southwest.

The violence escalated on Saturday with a third attack in El Túnel, Cauca, where a bomb detonated on the Pan-American Highway. This indiscriminate assault on civilians resulted in at least 14 deaths and over 38 injuries, including five minors. The blast caused significant damage to the highway infrastructure and destroyed multiple vehicles, including a bus.

Colombian authorities have pointed fingers at FARC dissidents—guerrillas who refused to sign the 2016 peace accord—as the perpetrators of these heinous acts. Governor of Cauca, Octavio Guzmán, condemned the attacks as a "direct offensive against life" and vowed that "the violent will not continue to impose fear and challenge the State."

In response, Defense Minister Pedro Sánchez has reinforced military and police presence in the affected areas. The government is coordinating efforts to confront the responsible groups, which also include the National Liberation Army (ELN) and other criminal organizations operating in the strategic southwestern region. The attacks underscore the persistent security challenges in Colombia, particularly in regions where dissident groups remain active.
