Vieshow IMAX announces upgrades: Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan theaters to get 4K laser, boosting viewing experience

Vieshow Cinemas, Taiwan's leading cinema chain, is deepening its partnership with IMAX by upgrading three major IMAX locations with the cutting-edge IMAX with Laser system. The theaters in Hsinchu Big City, Taichung Top City, and Tainan Nanshan will receive comprehensive renovations, including projection systems, sound, screens, seating, and carpets.

The upgrades are designed to offer audiences a significantly more immersive cinematic experience. The Hsinchu and Taichung theaters are slated for completion in the third quarter of 2026, with the Tainan venue scheduled to be finished by the second quarter of 2027. Vieshow Cinemas Chairman Wang Chao-li highlighted the company's commitment to enhancing hardware to meet growing consumer demand for premium viewing quality.

IMAX Greater China CEO, Chang-ching Meng, noted that in a market where "experience dictates choice," premium viewing is a critical competitive factor. He sees Vieshow Cinemas, IMAX's largest theater partner in Taiwan, as instrumental in bringing higher-specification viewing options to Taiwanese audiences through this collaboration, thereby maximizing the market value of quality film content.

The IMAX with Laser technology features a proprietary 4K laser projection system. This system delivers higher resolution, more vibrant colors, deeper blacks, and finer highlight details, aiming to present images closer to the filmmakers' original vision. Coupled with IMAX's exclusive 12-channel sound system, the upgrades promise a more enveloping and realistic audio-visual experience.
