Vietlott Winner Reveals Identity, Claims Over $3 Million Jackpot

Bui Van Manh, a 43-year-old man from Ho Chi Minh City, has claimed a staggering Vietlott jackpot of over 83.5 billion Vietnamese dong (approximately $3.3 million USD). In a notable departure from the norm, Manh chose to publicly reveal his identity and forgo a mask during the award ceremony, making him one of the largest prize winners to do so.

Manh, who has been playing Vietlott for a decade, expressed his long-held desire to win the jackpot and be able to claim it openly. He shared the joyous news with his wife while they were packing to move house. The winning ticket, a 70,000 Vietnamese dong purchase from a vendor on Hung Vuong Street, was a "machine-selected" ticket.

Following tax regulations, Manh will pay 10% tax on the winnings exceeding 10 million dong, leaving him with over 75.2 billion dong. This is not his first brush with luck; he has previously won smaller prizes from Vietlott, including two first prizes in Power 6/55 and two first prizes in Mega 6/45.

At the award ceremony, Vietlott's Deputy General Director Pham Quang Huy highlighted that Manh is one of nine major prize winners who have opted for public disclosure. Historically, over 780 major prize winners have chosen to remain anonymous. Vietlott has recorded several instances of winners choosing to appear publicly since its operations began in 2016.
