Vietnam Leader Sends Condolences on Passing of Thai Princess Bajrakitiyabha

General Secretary and President of Vietnam, Tô Lâm, has conveyed his condolences to King Maha Vajiralongkorn and the Royal Family of Thailand on the occasion of the passing of Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati.

The Royal Household of Thailand announced on June 12 that the Princess, the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn, had died at the age of 47. She had been in a coma for nearly four years following health complications. Her death has deeply saddened the people of Thailand, prompting a 15-day period of royal mourning.

Princess Bajrakitiyabha, who held master's and doctoral degrees in law from Cornell University, had a distinguished career. She served as Thailand's Ambassador to Austria, Slovakia, and Slovenia, and also represented Thailand at the United Nations Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. Known as the "Princess of Law," she initiated numerous projects aimed at improving the quality of life and welfare of the Thai people, particularly focusing on legal and community support initiatives.

During her time in the justice system, the Princess championed projects supporting female inmates, children living with incarcerated mothers, and pregnant women serving sentences. Her efforts focused on improving living conditions and creating opportunities for reintegration into society. Her passing leaves a significant void, marked by widespread grief among the Thai populace.
